Lung cancer is a troubling subject and it sends chills to the bones. Lung cancer, like all other kinds of cancer, is caused by the abnormality in the basic foundation of life which is called the cell, the body produces different kinds of cells performing different functions every minute, cell production depends on the activity of a certain organ in the body. Human consists or a pair of lungs, the left lung and the right lung, there are several factors which a person can get lung cancer, some of which is hereditary and most are because of exposure to chemicals that can trigger the productions of abnormal cells. Each Lung is made of divisions called lobes. The primary functions of the lungs are gas exchange, between the air that we breathe in and the carbon dioxide that we breathe out, these processes are called inhalation and exhalation. Normally cell production has its specific number of growth depending on the need of the body for it to maintain equilibrium, in the instance that there is overproduction of cells, there will be mutations on cells that will disrupt the normal functioning of a certain organ that’s affected, proliferations and uncontrolled cell division of abnormal cells form an unusual mass called Tumor.

lung cancerWhat cause lung cancer basically are the tumors that are abnormally growing in the tissues of the lungs. These tumors in the lungs can alter the functions of the lungs. Lung cancer tumors can grow for longer period of time, without the affected person knowing. In several cases Lung cancer cells can spread outside the lungs without displaying symptoms of cancer growth. These Tumors can either be malignant or benign, in the case of Lung cancer, tumors are considered malignant.  Benign tumors are those that can be easily removed through surgery, benign tumors does not spread throughout the body. Whereas  malignant  tumors are those that spread aggressively via the Blood stream, lymphatics giving way for the cancer cells to be able to invade healthy cells of different organs of the body, this process is also known as Metastasis. The distant growth of cancer cell is termed as Metastases. In case of Lung cancer there is a high possibility of cancer metastasis without the detection of symptoms of lung cancer.  Lung cancer is one of those cancers that are life threatening and most difficult cancer to cure. Treatment for lung cancer may vary depending on the early detection of the tumor that affects the lungs.

Lung cancer gives an easy route for metastases to rapidly affect other neighboring organs through the process of blood circulation and through the lymphatic system, in this way it is easier to lung cancer cells to spread to other organs such as; brain, liver, bone, and adrenal glands are some of the most common sites for lung cancer cells metastasis. On the other hand, Lung cancer is also very common site for cancer cell metastasis, these tumor metastases are the same of the original tumors cells (Primary). For example, in the case of liver cancer, cancer cells flow freely in the blood stream going to the lungs, this case is termed as metastatic liver cancer and not Lung cancer itself. Lung cancer can ascend from any portion of the lungs depending on the portion where the tumor is clog or settled. On 90% – 95% of lung cancers and said to ascend from epithelial cells of the lungs, these are the cells that line the large and small airways also known as the Bronchioles and the Bronchi, in this cases cancer of such are termed as Bronchogenic cancer or bronchogenic carcinomas, the other term for cancer is Carcinoma. In some cases cancer can also ascend from pleura (mesothelioma) and in rare cases from accessory tissues that are found in the lungs for example are the blood vessels.
